Ethical declaration on publication, anti-plagiarism process and good practices

The editorial staff of the journal Ekonomiaz, Revista vasca de Economía has a commitment to the scientific community to ensure the ethics and quality of the articles published. The benchmark for our journal is the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) code of conduct and best practices for journal editors, which can be found at http://publicationethics.org/files/Code_of_conduct_for_journal_editors.pdf. At the same time, this ensures a proper response to the needs of readers and authors, assures the quality of the articles published, protects and respects their content and completeness. The staff of Ekonomiaz undertakes to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when necessary.

In line with these best practices, Ekonomiaz selects articles via a system that involves review by external referees (anonymous peer review) with criteria based exclusively on the scientific significance, originality, clarity and relevance of each article submitted. The journal guarantees confidentiality in regard to the entire review process, the anonymity of referees and authors, the content assessed, the reasoned report issued by the referees and all other communications made by the Executive Management as necessary. Similarly, confidentiality is maintained in dealing with any clarifications, claims or complaints that an author may wish to submit to the Staff of the journal or to the referees who reviewed his/her article. Ekonomiaz declares its commitment to respect the completeness of articles already published.

Accepting the terms and agreements expressed, the authors must guarantee that the article and the materials associated are original or don´t infringe copyright. For this reason plagiarism is strictly forbidden; so that if there is suspicion of plagiarism on the part of the evaluators, the Executive Board or the Editorial Board of Ekonomiaz or a complaint, this fact will be transferred to the Editorial Board, which will give a hearing to the interested parties and establish the appropriate measures, including the withdrawal of the article or deletion if it has been published.

On accepting the terms and agreements set out by our journal, authors must assure that the articles and associated materials that they submit are original or are not in breach of any copyright. In cases of joint authorship authors must also indicate that all the authors involved have given their consent and that the work has not already been submitted to or published in any other medium.

The evaluation process is according to the following steps: a) after receiving the article, the sender is comunicated to the email address indicated, b) Executive Management decides to reject or to begin the evaluation process, which will be duly communicated, c) one double anonymous evaluation process (double-blind peer review) will be done by some professional outsider readers. The quality of these evaluations are supervised and assesed by the Executive Management of Ekonomiaz, and d) final judgment in order to accept or to reject the article. This process takes a maximum of six months from the receipt of the item in the Editorial of Ekonomiaz..

Ekonomiaz has a first-class range of readers authorized by their active and regular participation in the evaluation of national and foreign prestigious publications. Also, to facilitate the evaluation has a self evaluation model, which is available upon request to our email: ekonomiaz@euskadi.eus. Throughout the process the Editorial of Ekonomiaz informs the author about the successive article´s versions and the work situation. For any information about the editorial process, authors can contact the editors at: ekonomiaz@euskadi.eus.

EKONOMIAZ will have of all the property rights of received and published original articles that will be managed according to the license Creative Commons  , including recognition and nor commercial neither derived works, except for permission and those according to the conditions established by the rights owner.
