Doctor of Philosophy and Education. With a master's degree in Leisure and Human Potential. A Graduate in Philosophy and Letters (History and Geography). Holds a diploma in Archaeology. Professor in the faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto. Director of the Deusto Cities Lab chair. Member of the leisure, culture and tourism for social change research group, recognised in category A by the Basque government. UNIC4ER Task Force Member. He has been: Scientific Director de la ESSI European School of Social Innovation; Director of the Institute of Leisure Studies (2000-2007); and Vice-rector for Communication, Plurilingualism and Social Innovation (2007-2015). Lines of research on: cities, territories and communities; politics and governance; leisure, culture, tourism and sport.
