The Basque Farmhouse Eco-museum is situated in Artea. The building itself is a gable-roofed farmhouse built in late 16th century style, when oak was the material most commonly used in this type of dwelling. It represents the life, customs and work of all Basque people. Its aim is to pay tribute to our ancestors, to show the wisdom, the self-sacrifice and hard work that they employed for centuries to make the Basque farmhouse a self-sufficient institution, the embryo of the richness and culture of our people.
