Route map

Lured by the immensity of the Urkiola mountains and by sheer curiosity we enter the valleys formed by the rivers Ibaizabal and Nervión, which today define the road system connecting Alava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.

After climbing the road to Urkiola pass, in a beautiful and magical setting, we come to one of the most important religious centres in the Basque Country - Santuario de los Santos Antonios Abad y Padua. This sanctuary represents a piece of our religious legacy laden with tradition.

Not far away is the town of Elorrio, snuggled between mountains and green fields dotted with farmhouses. Founded in 1350, Elorrio boasts the greatest number of houses emblazoned with coats of arms in Bizkaia.

Soon we come to Durango, which in spite of the changes brought about by industrialisation has managed to protect its medieval historical treasures. Every facade, every window, portal and street has evolved into a piece of history worth seeing and appreciating.
