From high atop the mountains between the valleys of Lea and Artibai, a splendid landscape reaches toward the sky and tapers down to the sea.
The town of Ondarroa is peppered with houses of seafaring families, decorating the coast with bright colours which can be seen from both land and sea. The historic quarter is made up of four medieval streets that meet at the Church of Santa María, constructed in the town as a means of worship and defense.
In essence, this route is dominated by landscapes and scenery. So, we'll drive through curious rock formations before stopping at San Miguel de Aretxinaga, a beautiful eighteenth-century Baroque church that hold a luring legend within its walls.
Our journey continues. Near Mount Oiz a cobblestone road takes us from the Gothic collegiate church of Zenarruza to Bolibar, birthplace of Simon Bolivar, known as the "Great Liberator".
