The Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Antigua in Zumarraga is a Renaissance building from the 16th century that is considered to be an artistic and monumental treasure. In fact, some experts define it as the "cathedral of small churches". Located on the side of a mountain close to Zumarraga, with views over this locality, it has an apse and a rectangular layout with three naves. It stands out for its solidity, although its most impressive element is its wooden structure. One's attention is also attracted by the way in which the building is closed, and although fully integrated into the rural church typology, it shows a fairly accentuated defensive and military nature. The church, in addition, holds two works of interest: a gothic Andra Mari carving and one of the oldest Piedad groups in Gipuzkoa.
