From La Rioja to the Plains of Alava (Llanada Alavesa): Land of contrasts

Trespuentes/Trasponte (Iruña de Oca/Iruña Oka)

Bridge of Trespuentes

This is undoubtedly the best known bridge in Araba, and the one that receives most visitors. Traditionally it was considered as a Roman structure, however, the architecture of the bridge today corresponds to more recent technical and typological parameters. This magnificent bridge, whose construction cannot be dated beyond the 16th century, underwent a notable extension towards the right-hand bank during the first half of the 17th century and later underwent considerable alterations.
