Patricia Fernández Vicens, lawyer for the Asociación Coordinadora de Barrios.

Practising lawyer and member of the Madrid Bar Association since 2001. Legal Aid Lawyer.

She is the lawyer for the Asociación Coordinadora de Barrios, a Spanish civil society organisation in which she coordinates legal advice for the body, with a specific project to uphold human rights on the southern border. She has appeared in national and international courts in different proceedings on returns and deportations, as well as prosecuting in different proceedings over the death of migrants in El Tarajal in 2014 and the Melilla fence in 2022.

She is also director of the Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos de España and co-director of the Diploma course in Forced Migrations run by the Complutense University of Madrid, taught by the Community Action Group.

In 2022 she was joint winner of the Human Rights Prize in the Spanish category with the Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado, as well as the Jesús Vicente Chamorro Human Rights Prize awarded by the Unión Progresista de Fiscales in 2023, and other accolades for her work to uphold human rights.
