José María Pey González

Lawyer, member of the Bizkaia Bar Association and of the CGAE immigration and international protection subcommittee.

A Law graduate from the University of Deusto, he holds a master's degree in Human Rights from the UNED. He is a practising lawyer and member of the Bizkaia bar association, specialising in immigration law and international protection, and part of the duty rota in different specialities.

He has broad professional experience and teaches in the field of the status of foreigners, immigration and human rights. He has lectured in the Law faculty of the University of Deusto, and on the master's degree in Access to the Legal Profession, where he teaches about immigration and international protection.

He has worked in different legal and social support services for immigrants, and with organisations and institutions such as Barakaldo city council, Biltzen and the Basque bar council. He also sits on Bizkaia bar association's immigration commission and represents the Basque bar council before the CGAE immigration and international protection subcommittee.

He is the author of various specialist publications on immigration, Spanish supreme court and Court of Justice of the European Union jurisprudence, migration and asylum, among other subjects.
