Gorka Moreno Márquez

Lecturer in the department of Sociology and Social Work (EHU).

A graduate in Politics and Administration with a doctorate in Sociology from the University of the Basque Country. He is currently a senior lecturer in the department of Sociology and Social Work at the same university. From 2021 to 2025 he was vice-rector of the Bizkaia campus of the University of the Basque Country.

Both his teaching and his research focus on areas linked to international migration, social policy and social exclusion. He works with the Basque Immigration Observatory, which he headed from 2011 to 2020, and is currently a member of the Begirune Foundation, which works in the field of policy on diversity and coexistence with migrants and which advises the main political institutions in the Basque Country.

He has published more than 50 papers in international academic journals, both in Europe and in Latin America, and has taken part in more than 20 competitive research projects, nearly all of them in the sphere of human mobility and integration processes.
