Adriana Lucely Rojas Cardona

Adriana Lucely Rojas Cardona is a graduate in Physics from the National University of Colombia and holds a doctorate in Biophysics from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), and has done post-doctoral work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA) under the supervision of James H. Hurley, where she helped to elucidate the primary structure of retromer, a protein complex the dysfunction of which has been linked to Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Since 2009 she has worked at CIC bioGUNE (Derio, Bizkaia), where she heads the Macromolecular Crystallography Platform and, since 2019, the Electronic Microscopy Platform. She has helped to train 13 predoctoral researchers and sat on the tribunal for 7 doctoral theses.

She is the author of 39 publications in first-quartile journals (Nature, Cell, PNA and, Nat Struct Mol Biol, among others), including 3 as corresponding author. She was a beneficiary of Bizkaia provincial authority's Bizkaia Talent programme (2011-1012).
