Dolmens of the Navarre Aralar

The Aralar, in its Navarre part also has numerable megalithic dolmens, which, although outside Gipuzkoa, for the purpose of this page, cannot be overlooked.

  • A few steps away from the border between the territories of Guipuzcoa and Navarre near Igaratza is the megalithic dolmen of Trikuarri.

  • A little farther, going into Navarre through the central Aralar, are located the megalithic dolmens of Obioneta, Zeontza, Maantsa and Garraztita.

  • Near the Guard House of Baraibar, there is a beautiful group of megalithic dolmens, some with a cover, which were the first excavated in the sierra at the beginning of the XX century by T. de Aranzadi and F. de Ansoleaga, before J. M. de Barandiaran began with the former the excavation of the megalithic dolmens of the Gipuzkoan Aralar.

  • In a nearby area to the Guard House mentioned above, there are, among others, the two megalithic dolmens of Albi, Erbillerri, the two of Debata, Soltxiki, etc..

  • Lastly, in the eastern area of the sierra, in the valley of Ata , there are another two magnificent examples: those of Zinekogurutze and Urdenas.
