The Day of the Basque Country, which will be held on Sunday, 29th June, aims to be a celebration reflecting the relationship of our community with water. For the first time, a regatta of Basque rowing boatswill be held inland. This will not just be an exhibition, but will in fact be the first regatta of the season of the prestigious San Miguel League organized by the ACT.

Crews from all over the Cantabrian coastline will compete on the River Ebro, in front of the Pilar Basilica in a unique and probably unrepeatable spectacle. Previously, female crews from Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa will compete in a women's regatta.

Music is another of the central themes of the Basque Day at the EXPO. An outstanding concert, starring Ainhoa Arteta, Maite Arruabarrena, José Luis Sola and José Antonio López, as well as the San Sebastian Choral Society and the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, will play, among others, works with water as their theme. This spectacle, directed by the maestro Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, in the Zaragoza Auditorium will be called Ode to Happiness - Music as a bridge between two banks of the river which separates mankind, will be preceded by a performance by Jon Maya.

The dancer will also perform a welcome dance at the reception held by the EXPO management committee for the Basque Delegation in the evening and which will take place  in the EXPO Congress Palace.  A brass band and dancers will provide lively entertainment in the area named as Juan Marí Beltran Street during the evening of Sunday, 29th June.
