This bison (long. 40 cm) overlooking the gallery has been painted and carved. The painting gracefully reproduces the line of the back and abdomen, the hind quarters with the tail and the back legs, one ahead of the other.
The technique used, where carving sometimes accompanies the painting, sometimes completes it and sometimes takes over from it, is different to the figures we have seen till now. We will see it again on the bison of group V.
