Graved bison
Bison (Bison bonasus)
Bison (Bison bonasus)

This is the carved figure of a bison (long. 30 cm) displaying its left flank. The animal is drawn in a walking pose, to judge by the position of its front legs. Horns, eye, brow-nasal profile, muzzle and beard have been painted on the head.

Above the animal are two vertical lines, one over the back of the hump and the other on the hindquarters, meeting it at the other end at the tip of the tail. At the point where the front line meets the body, where is a paint stroke, as if to depict blood flowing from the wound caused by the weapon.
