The Town Hall and the
Church of the Asunción in Respaldiza are situated in the same baroque building from the 18th century. The building has three main sections: a central section and two side towers. The central block, built of stone, follows the usual baroque model. The right-hand Tower, older than the rest of the building, is the parish tower, which joins the town hall and which served as a model for the other tower. The temple, with a rectangular layout and side chapels that give it a Latin Cross appearance, has a font that is undecorated and dates back to 1631. There are two mediaeval graves and the main altarpiece is baroque and dates from the 18th century. The side altarpieces are also baroque and dedicated to the Virgen del Rosario and to la Piedad. Access to the temple, under a portico, is through a lancet arch with archivolts decorated with balls and plants that are supported by columns decorated with intertwined vegetation. The bell tower is the tower of the Town Hall, which in reality serves as the back façade of the Church of Respaldiza.
