Vulkan: Three-dimensional measuring machine that provides a wider effective measuring range

Vulkan is a three-dimensional high-precision and highly productive coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with a symmetrical design in order to provide a wider effective measuring range.

The Vulkan measuring machine is intended for part series verification, mainly in the motor industry. It is suitable for measuring high volumes and provides easy load access as a result of its surface design.

As for the automotive sector, VULKAN is to be assembled and commissioned in the Volkswagen plant in Buenos Aires (Argentina) for the measurement of the body of its new models.

VULKAN makes it possible to perform high-precision and high-speed measurements in production centres, as required by Volkswagen worldwide. It is used for carrying out the dimensional control of single and subassembled parts, as well as of finished products. It works as traditional contact equipment to which the latest non contact sensors in the market can be fitted.

The most remarkable difference with respect to traditional measuring systems is its movement speed, which makes it possible for the first time ever to incorporate this type of machinery and functionality into the production line.

With a completely improved mechanical engineering, the machine reaches much higher speeds than traditional equipment, which makes it possible to perform the series measurement, not having to submit samples of the series to a measurement laboratory.

Some of the technical specifications of Vulcan include its specific design for achieving a wider measuring range in as little space as possible, including a new duplex symmetric arrangement, with the horizontal travel drive located underground.
