RULES FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ORIGINAL TEXTS TO EKONOMIAZ JOURNAL

1.- SUBJECT AND ORIGINALITY

The works will be related to the topics chosen for future issues (“Next Numbers”) or those unsolicited works related to matters of interest in the real economy and academic research, specifically applied to the Basque Country (section "Other collaborations"). The papers submitted must not have been previously published or must not have appeared in any other paper about to be published or in the process of publication in any other national or foreign journal (in a similar translated version), both in normal or electronic edition. Repetitive publication is understood as, not only the exact copy of an article, but also the repeated publication of mainly the same information and analysis, as well as appearing as part of a book of one or several authors.

Furthermore, in the presentation letter of the original articles a declaration must be included stating that the manuscript has been only sent to Ekonomiaz and to no other journal at the same time.

When submitting a collective paper, in the case of not including a declaration of the specific contribution of each of the authors, we will understand that all of them have participated in its conception and design, data collection, analysis and interpretation, drafting, critical check and final approval.

2.- RIGOR AND QUALITY

The fundamental factors upon which the quality demanded and, consequently, the Ekonomiaz Editorial Board approves or rejects the papers are the following ones:

  • Originality in the outcomes obtained or verified hypothesis (with different degrees). Scientific innovation and topicality.
  • Epistemologic and Social importance: usefulness or applicability and significance or advance in the knowledge.
  • Scientific Reliability and Validity, in other words, contrasted methodological quality.
  • Excelent and no-sexit writing, structure and logical coherence and good material presentation.
Also, Ekonomiaz suggests and especially values the disaggregation of data by sex whenever possible, as well as the use the gender perspective in the analysis carried out. In case of equality of relevance and interest for the Basque economy, the priority for publication will be to select the studies that incorporate the gender perspective

3.- STYLE

Writing clarity and style must be carefully taken into account, as well as grammar rules and recommendations made by the language authorities must be absolutely obeyed, at the same time as avoiding redundant and unnecessary expressions, as well as a language sexist use. When the original language is other than English, it is more than recommended not to use technical Anglicism terms, except when there is no other way of expressing or adapting it in Spanish or Basque, as well as the syntactic and construction Anglicism terms. ISO rules are specially relevant and must be taken into account in the scientific publication.

The Journal Editorial Department will have the right to make slight writing alterations: removing grammar and typographic errors; non suitable expressions; coarse or complicated expressions, ambiguous sentences or doubtful statements in order to ensure the grammar correctness, the suitability of the scientific style and the strict obedience to technical and style rules from the highest authorities: The IVAP Style Book (Basque Civil Servants Institute), the RAE dictionaries (The Royal Spanish Academy) and Euskaltzaindia.

Obviously no changes can be made in the content of the article without the previous awareness and approval of the author. As the main responsibility of the content of the article, as well as its copyright, lies on the author(s) until it is published in Ekonomiaz, the journal will keep the author(s) informed of any possible meaning change or alteration that may have occurred during the critical and style check, before its publication, and the journal will ask for authorization to modify such content and adapt it to the editorial style. The author will accept the style correction proposed by Ekonomiaz or reject them with understanding.
