A vertical garden with recycled materials in Bentades Ikastetxea
Since last Spring, a vertical garden made with recycled material decorates the wall of the playground of Bentades Ikastetxea in Mungia.
This initiative, in which parents of the students participated actively, offers children the possibility of expanding their training, individually or in group. It also allows them to work in gardening and horticulture obtaining the first fruits of their responsibility and dedication, and developing a personal and affective link with the environment.
The vertical garden provides a large planting surface taking away as little space as possible from the school. Available space for the design is 22 metres long and 1.70 high.
There is a light structure of recycled pallets that acts as a support and it has an irrigation system that facilitates the maintenance of plants with small consumption.

The participation of the parents has been fundamental in the development of the activity as they have given free rein to their imagination and provided diverse recycled material enabling the initiative to be concluded successfully.
