Specifically, his westerns (Unforgiven, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider and Bronco Billy) and other films which, despite being set in contemporary times, contain elements and notions of westerns (Mystic River, Gran Torino, American Sniper, The Mule and Space Cowboys). Besides the time and geographical factors that define the Western genre, the properties, specificities, lighting and shades of this American genre can also be found in other works by Clint Eastwood. Accordingly, it could be said that the Western genre forms, to a significant extent, the backbone of California's film landscape.
