Astelena Court

With a capacity of 1.325 persons, Astelena pelota court has received the most important hand pelota matches of the world, since its opening in 1904. It underwent many restoration works throughout its existence and the best pelota players have passed through it. Astelena is, without doubt, one of the most emblematic places of Eibar. The origin of its name is somewhat unusual. On Monday, following festive Sundays, factory workers would take thinks easy at work and attended pelota matches to end up naming the pelota court Astelena (Monday in Basque language).
