Wineries in the Basque Country
In the Middle Ages La Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri was part of the Monastery of Toloño. In 1967 Jaime Rodríguez Solís embarked on a thrilling wine adventure by means of restoring what in the past was a land belonging to the Hieronymites and renewing the vineyard with several autochtonous species.
Nowadays it has 150 hectares of which 105 are part of a restored vineyard from where the vines to produce Remelluri wines are obtained (Reserva, Gran Reserva and "high expression"). The building preserves inside a necropolis of the Middle Ages and a wine press, probably the oldest one in the region.
In addition, there a dining room service for groups, business meetings, etc. as well as a tasting room where the wine experts of La Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri give explanations on the matter. All these services must be booked in advance.
