Cultural Heritage
Its impressive design, in the shape of an isosceles triangle with slightly curved edges, is reminiscent of a large glass obelisk. Standing at a height of 165 metres, with 41 floors, 485 parking spaces and covering an area of 50,000 square metres above ground level, the Iberdrola Tower of Bilbao is the tallest office building in the Basque Country.
The business centre, designed by the celebrated architect César Pelli, is a work of art of tertiary architecture, and is a point of reference due to its design, technology and sustainability.
The tower welcomes its visitors in a vestibule covering 2,800 square metres, which reaches a height of 10 metres at its tallest point. Transformed into an art gallery of sorts, the hall is home to pieces by Basque artists such as Darío Urzay, Jesús Mari Lazkano and Cristina Iglesias. There is also a vast garden space in the interior of the building.
On the first floor, there is a large restaurant area, which has been designed to cater for more than 600 guests. A total of 22 cutting-edge lifts transport people up and down the tower's floors. A heliport for emergency flights is the crown on the roof of this spectacular skyscraper.
