The Puente Antiguo de San Antón bridge, located beside the homonym church, is included in Bilbao's coat of arms.
The old bridge was prior to Bilbao's Founding Paper (1300) and was built again in 1602.
Pablo de Alzola and Ernesto Hoffmeyer built a second bridge in 1877. But it was destroyed during the Civil War, in 1937.
The present San Antón bridge, also known as Atxuri bridge, dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century and connects the Old Part with Bilbao La Vieja.
