Wineries in the Basque Country
This winery, which today boasts 55 hectares of vineyards, was founded by Julio Martínez Bujanda in 1976, in keeping with a long and solid family tradition in the grape-growing industry. In 1988 the winery was extensively remodelled but it was in 1999, after the facilities were extended again and upgraded, that the crianza (aged for 2 years) and reserva (aged for 3 years) ranges were added to its famous joven (¿young¿) red wine. In 2004 the winery was extended again to create a new processing facility. Today Ondalan produces and sells five types of wine: a young wine (¿Laudo¿), a select red wine (¿100 Abades¿), another select wine (made entirely from tempranillo grapes), a crianza wine (¿Ondalan) and a reserva (¿Ondalan").
